School’s Annual and Daily
Schedules
SCHOOL’S ANNUAL AND DAILY SCHEDULES
The annual
schedule, as required by the Saudi Arabian government, has
increased in recent years to either seventeen or eighteen
weeks of study in each semester (usually seventeen in one
semester and eighteen in the other), including the time
allotted for final examinations. Ten to fourteen-day
holidays are currently given for each Eid (Ramadan and
Hajj), and one week holidays are given between the two
semesters and in the middle of the second semester.
The daily
schedules in the school vary slightly according to the age
groups but all students should expect to be in school by
7:15. Kindergarten students leave at 12:30 while older
students are out between 2:15 and 2:30. Dismissal time may
be later for the secondary students in the new international
program. All students have at least two recesses during the
school day during which they have time to eat, play and
pray.
The boys’
school and the elementary girls’ school usually have eight
40-minute periods per day. The girls’ intermediate and
secondary levels usually have nine periods per day, as will
the boys with the new international program.
