Requirements and the Priorities
The
Requirements and the Priorities
There are three requirements which the
student must meet in order to be considered for enrollment
at DAS.
»
First: The student's age
must be within the range required by the Saudi government.
At the level of pre-school and grade 1, this means that the
child must reach the required age before the end of the
month of November in the year of entry.
»
Second: For a child
entering grade 2 and above, the parent must submit records
from the student's current school showing that the child is
at a level of or above.
»
Third: For a child
entering at any grade level, he must achieve at least the
minimum requirement on the DAS entrance tests. Applicants
achieving a score lower than the minimum requirement will
not be considered for enrollment.
Of the students who meet the three
requirements listed above, the DAS Admissions Committee will
make its selection according to the following priorities:
1. The children of DAS employees
2. The 50% of seats reserved for
Saudi Aramco: Children of Saudi Aramco employees who come
within the Aramco quota of 50% of the seats in each grade
level and/or 50% of the school as a whole are taken first.
They will be accepted according to the following priority:
a. Children who have brothers
and/or sisters already enrolled at DAS
(first-come-first-served according to the official date of
the completion of the applicant’s file in DAS)
b. Children who do not have
brothers and/or sisters already enrolled at DAS
(first-come-first-served according to the official date of
the completion of the applicant’s file in DAS)
Note: Children of DAS graduates
who are Aramco employees are accepted according to normal
Aramco priorities
3. The 50% of seats reserved for
non-Aramco:
a. Non-Aramco students who have
brothers and/or sisters already enrolled at DAS
b. Non-Aramco children of DAS
graduates
c. Non-Aramco Saudi children who
do not have brothers and/or sisters already enrolled at DAS
d. Non-Saudi children who have
brothers and/or sisters at DAS
e. Non-Saudi children who do not
have brothers and/or sisters already enrolled at DAS (These
children are placed in order of priority according to their
scores on the entrance tests.)
NOTE: Saudi Aramco students who
fulfill the first three requirements, but who do not find
space in the 50% quota allotted to Aramco, may re-apply to
be accepted in one of the other categories listed above. If
there are still spaces left after the children of other
members of the community have been admitted, they can be
accepted as non-Aramco students. In that case, they must pay
the full fees, i.e., they will not take the Aramco
discount. They will continue in this status for as many
years as necessary until a space opens up within the 50%
allotted to Saudi Aramco in the child's class. At the
beginning of the new academic year after this space becomes
available, the child moves into the Aramco quota according
to the Aramco order of priority and begins to pay only 65%
of the tuition.
