Community Service: A Value We Instill, and Skills We Build
Among our featured service programs is Record-Breaking Day, an annual celebration held at the Girls' School. It offers a variety of performances and activities — including student showcases, storytelling, horse riding, arts activities, and skill games — alongside a range of food stalls. Students compete to break the school's previous records in activities such as the 50-meter dash, the long jump, the three-legged race, and more. Proceeds are dedicated to publishing Arabic books in the field of modern education.
At Dhahran Ahliyya Schools, we believe that true education is never confined to the classroom — it extends to shaping individuals who are conscious of their responsibility toward their community. That is why community service is woven into our students' journey, with service programs beginning as early as Grade 3 and growing with them through every stage, instilling the values of giving and responsibility from an early age.
Through these programs, students gain lifelong skills: empathy, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, initiative, effective communication, and cultural and social awareness. These are the qualities that shape not only high-achieving students, but responsible citizens capable of making a positive difference around them.
This approach aligns naturally with the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB), which places service at the heart of every stage — from the concept of Action in the Primary Years Programme (PYP), to Service as Action in the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) in the Diploma Programme (DP). In this way, we empower our students to turn their learning into tangible impact, fulfilling our mission to prepare a generation capable of making a positive difference, locally and globally.
Our Featured Service Programs
WWoW
A Week Without Walls
A program that nurtures a love of volunteering and doing good, by cultivating compassion toward those living in different circumstances — social, cultural, or environmental. Students prepare through regular training activities in the months leading up to their project, then dedicate a full week to it for the richest possible experience. At the end of each year, the activities team, together with volunteer mothers and students, hosts a celebration to share their projects with the community. Past projects have included designing a sensory room for children with special needs, renovating a home for a low-income family, and building houses for families in need.
Annual Charity Run: A yearly walk-and-run that promotes physical activity and raises awareness of causes affecting different groups in our community — such as people with diabetes, orphans, individuals with special needs, those living with hereditary blood disorders, individuals on the autism spectrum, and others. Teachers, students, and members of the Parent-Teacher Committee collaborate over several weeks each year to plan and organize the event.

Library Support and Development in Public Schools: This project aims to support libraries by providing suitable furniture and stocking them with age-appropriate stories for students, creating an environment that inspires reading and learning. Launched in 2009 under the supervision of the Girls of the Gulf Society, and with the continued support of volunteer mother Mrs. Munira Al-Sagheer, it has offered our students a unique opportunity to make a tangible, positive impact on their community by helping create a better learning environment for students in public schools.
